Missing Incentives/ Differences Between Expected and Received Reward Amounts

There are several reasons why participants do not receive the expected incentive:

Activity / stream conditions not fully met

Some incentives are linked to completing a full set or stream of activities, rather than a single action.

  • The invitation email may present the maximum possible amount (e.g. “up to X”), which applies only if all required tasks or conditions are met.
  • If only part of the stream was completed, or certain conditions were not fulfilled, the system may calculate a lower or partial amount.

Different reward amounts for different profiles or routes

In some projects, reward amounts can vary based on:

  • Participant profile
  • Country
  • Activity route (e.g. main survey vs. short screener)

The invitation email may describe a standard amount, while your specific path through the activity leads to a different incentive according to the Rewards Policy.

Quality checks or excluded responses

Quality checks can affect the final reward amount:

  • If some responses were flagged as low quality, AI‑generated, duplicate, or partially completed, those parts of the activity may not be eligible for incentives.
  • You may receive an incentive only for the sections that pass our quality and validity checks.

Currency, fees, or voucher denomination differences

When rewards are issued via partners (e.g. PayPal, virtual cards, vouchers), the final amount you see may differ slightly from the value mentioned in the invitation because of:

  • Currency conversion
  • Local requirements
  • Available voucher denominations

If the invitation mentions an amount in one currency, the equivalent value in your local currency or voucher format may be different.

Invitation errors or outdated information

In rare cases, the invitation email may contain incorrect or outdated information about the reward amount (for example, if the incentive was updated after the email was prepared). In such cases, we review the project details and correct any inconsistencies in line with our policy and agreements.
